The answers to today’s Strands, game #875, are…

  • GURU
  • MAVEN
  • PUNDIT
  • EXPERT
  • AUTHORITY
  • SPECIALIST
  • SPANGRAM: BIGBRAIN
  • My rating: Easy
  • My score: Perfect

This was one of those games that felt like it was going to be difficult but ended up being easy.

That said, it did take me a while to find my first word — but with GURU snagged, the rest all seemed to fall into place.

If I was being fussy, based on my recent World Cup viewing, I wouldn’t include PUNDIT on this list; although this is indeed someone who proffers their opinion, it is often loosely based on any actual fact. Although, that said, coming from a position where you consider yourself “all-knowing” or in possession of a BIGBRAIN seems to help anyone feel as if they are an EXPERT.

Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Saturday, July 25, game #874)

  • GOWN
  • TUNIC
  • PINAFORE
  • KIMONO
  • DIRNDL
  • MUUMUU
  • SPANGRAM: YOUWEARITWELL
