The UAE is gradually restoring flight operations as regional airspace closures continue to impact travel schedules across the Gulf. Authorities have activated contingency plans aimed at maintaining connectivity, supporting stranded travelers and ensuring the safe return of residents.
Officials confirmed that operations are being managed in phases, with capacity increasing step by step under strict safety oversight. The measures are designed to stabilize air traffic while minimizing disruption to passengers and the wider economy.

Special emergency routes activated
During a media briefing, the Minister of Tourism and Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri said that with emergency routes now in place, up to 48 flights can currently be handled per hour. The UAE has opened safe air corridors in coordination with Gulf countries to ensure continuity of economic and tourism activity.
Additional flights will be added gradually following safety checks.
17,498 passengers flown since March 1, 2026
Since March 1, a total of 17,498 passengers have have travelled on 60 flights under the current operational measures. In the upcoming phase, more than 80 flights are scheduled to operate daily as capacity increases.
The UAE is also covering visa costs for travelers affected by flight delays.
Passengers urged to wait for airline confirmation
Authorities have advised passengers not to head to the airport unless they have been contacted directly by their airline or hold a confirmed booking.
Emirates confirmed that all scheduled flights to and from Dubai remain suspended until 11:59pm UAE time on March 4 due to regional airspace closures.
The airline is operating a limited number of passenger repatriation and cargo flights on March 3 and 4. Customers with earlier bookings are being prioritized. Passengers are urged not to travel to the airport unless directly notified by Emirates or holding a confirmed booking.
Etihad Airways said all scheduled commercial flights to and from Abu Dhabi remain suspended until 2pm UAE time on Thursday, March 5.
Some repositioning, cargo and repatriation flights may operate in coordination with UAE authorities, subject to strict operational and safety approvals.
